Coldest Night of the Year

Last year, many of the Grade 8 students participated in the “Coldest Night of the Year” fundraiser and walk.  This is an event that is held across Canada every year and supports various local organizations.  The walk that is being held on the Hamilton Mountain, is to support Neighbour-to-Neighbour; a local foodbank that our school has supported through our mission team.

We would love to be able to enter a Timothy team again this year, but include everyone of all ages!  The walk is taking place on Saturday Feb. 25, 2017 and will begin at St. Stephen’s on the Mount (at the corner of Concession and East 25th).  Registration begins at 4:00, with the 5K walk starting at 5:00.  Following the walk, there will be a warm supper, drinks and snacks provided at the church.

If you would like to participate in this event (parents and siblings are encouraged to join our team as well; the path is stroller friendlyJ), please email Miss de Jonge at mdejonge@timothyschool.org and she will send you the link you can use to register on our team.  The registration fee for each walker is $25 (which will include a toque for you to keep); however, if you raise $75 in donations (for those under the age of 17)) or $150 (18+), the registration fee is waived.  Students under the age of 12 do not have to pay the registration fee, though they will not receive a toque unless they pay the registration fee (or raise $75). On a practical note, if the students can raise $50 in donations, then the $25 registration fee they put in themselves will become a tax-deductible donation!

We hope to have a good turn out to this event again this year; we had a lot of fun last year!
